Earlier this year, I went to a World War II air show in Reading, PA. Aside from all the WWII era aircraft on display, there were also a lot of people dressed as soldiers from World War II. These included people dressed as American, British, Russian, Italian, Japanese and German troops. I have also been to Civil War re-enactments, where people dressed as Union and Confederate troops. And I would bet at least a few of the German and Confederate troops were democrats.
Would you assume that everyone who ever portrayed a Confederate soldier in a re-enactment suppors slavery? If its being done for historical reenactments, who cares? Are we supposed to just omit the Germans or Confederate troops during these events? Talk about revisionist history. Wait, I forgot, your rules of fair play and 'innocent until proven guilty' don't count when there is an 'R' after someone's name. I cannot help but think that if this guy was a Democrat you would be screaming from the roof tops about how ridiculous the republicans would be if they made an issue out of it. Usually when a politician gets nailed for something stupid, the 'excuse' they come up with is totally unbelievable. This guy said he joined the group because his son was interested in WWII history at the time and it was something they could enjoy together. Seems perfectly plausible to me (and something I would do if one of my kids asked) - and lot lot better than 'I smoked pot but didn't inhale' and 'I did not have sexual relations with that woman' :D On Sun, Oct 10, 2010 at 9:11 PM, Larry C.
