yea it wasnt the order of writing... more the story line...

However as a storyline went the actual order is
Patriot Games
Hunt for Red October
Clear and Pres...
With SOAF according to the film DB comments

younger... hes not as high up in the CIA and hes not married... which
would put the film storyline before Patriot Games.... yet the book puts
the storyline well after all 3 of the other stories...
Thats where i was a lil confused... but it looks like it will prbably be
a completely different story... just useing the same character names and
title so as to launch the film with an existing fan base...
