In Egypt it never crossed my mind to question the color or race of the people. Some of the people are dark skinned and some not so dark, but it never made a difference.
My experience is of America's continuous obsession with labels, particularly holding onto ridiculous racial stereotypes....even attempting to export these ideas to the international community. Early 19th century France (Napolean's era) cannot be compared to France of the 21st century (nor the 20th century). This is one area that the rest of the world is more advance than America. South Africa (post Apartheid) is a striking example. Since I am an American citizen, I am merely pointing out a weakness that needs to be addressed. We need to start changing our attitudes towards people we deem inferior because of something as silly as skin color.
