I beg to differ. You asked, 'Why are Americans obsessed with race and
color?' This not only wreaks of superiority (I am better than you
because I am not obsessed with race and color), but it seems to
indicate that you do not consider yourself as an 'American' - at least
that is the way it came across.

I do think its stupid to think skin color should be a factor in
determining someone's intelligence and abilities. Its even more stupid
to think that the entire population of a country feels that it is not
stupid.

Why do you feel they are being downgraded? I bet some people who
benefit from Affirmative Action are Ok with the 'downgrade'. If
someone chooses to identify themselves with a certain group, why is it
wrong for others to do the same?

Ummm...never. Personally, I don't like being asked what race/color I
am, and when the option exists, I prefer to choose 'I choose not to
answer'. The only time this would matter on a job application is when
there are some Affirmative Action quotas to fill.

Stereotypes and discrimination stem from ignorance and intolerance,
nothing more, nothing less.

That is not the way it came across. Its kind of arrogant to assume you
know how even a small minority of Americans fee much less 'a
majority'l.
