I've turned down jobs in the Bay Area several times over the last couple tech booms. If I was single and in my 20s and would make enough to be independently wealthy...maybe. But while I absolutely love visiting and hanging out in SF and the surrounding area, living there would drive me nuts. Hell, if I was just going after a job, LA and DC would be much better for a CF guy. The problem is, I don't want to live those places. I could see NC, but fundamentally, I'm just a Northwest kind of guy. Maybe I'll up and move to Europe one of these days just to do something different, but til then I'm really quite pleased with where I am and that means a lot.
