>From the books and stuff; The "Sith" are a group who use the Force for evil, but they're not the only ones Using the Dark Side of the Force basically means using it for negative effect, so using it while angry, to destroy etc. uses the Dark Side - using it for pacivity (sp?) and stuff are the Light Side If you use the Dark Side too much it's meant to take you over and "consume" you, which is why the Emperor has many clones (Dark Empire), as they get eaten up over time, while Yoda was several hundred years old when he died According to some sources, after using the Dark Side, a Jedi can attone to "clean" his spirit and thus not be effected by the Dark Side's influences... Because of the Dark Side's influence and stuff, you don't have to be a Sith member, you can just be a Dark Jedi (Timothy Zahn's books), using Dark powers, but not totally consumed...
