I don't think the progressives have any better answers than anyone else. What I do know is that if we continue on the current course, 10% unemployment is going to look pretty attractive. Republicans are tooting their horns about having won the election, but they are just as scared of reforming entitlements as Democrats. What globalization is going to cause is a total stratification of society between rich investors and business executives and everyone else. Basically we're allowing corporate America to export the US economy to Asia.
