A centrist would not have rammed a health care bill through that a significant majority of the population opposed. A centrist would not have continued to increase the size of the deficit with a significant majority of the population opposed to run-away government spending. A centrist not have allowed government take overs of private industries. "a corporatist and a national security/government power hawk" Which in no way excludes him from being a progressive but definitely moves him into the fascist realm. In fact, there is a lot of common ground between fascism and progressivism. "He came out in favor of continuing warrantless wiretapping even as a Presidential candidate." Funny thing is that he was adamantly against the patriot act as a senator and promised "robust oversight" of the law as a presidential candidate. Take some time to examine famous progressives. Compare their policies to President Obama. They have a lot more in common than differences.
