I'm sure he thinks he should stay in power. Others are not saying he should stay in power but are saying no one should help the rebels remove him. Some are against air strikes, some are against arming the rebels, some are against the whole thing. What does that all say in the end. It says: "we want him gone but we don't want to do anything to make him leave" which is the same as leaving him in power.
