Meh, I worked in Old Town for years and it really wasn't a big deal. Some people would like it to go away and I get that, but honestly, it isn't a huge deal, imho. Occasional hooker giving a blowjob to a transient in an alleyway and whatnot but not a big deal. There are cranked out junkies at times, for sure, that's everywhere and honestly, I think that drunk assholes coming out of clubs at 2am (which is also in Old Town) is more of a danger. > Other than the homeless problem, I have loved my trips to Portland and the > upper PacNWest. It actually came back amazing quickly. Everyone was blown away (pun intended). After the initial destruction, scientists figured it would be decades before anything living took root again. Yet the following year you started to see plants growing and within 2 or 3 years, you started to see animals re-inhabiting the blast zone. Obviously it will be a long time until you see a couple hundred year old trees in the area but an amazing amount of life recolonized really quickly. Trippy stuff.
