I have spared my brain by never even attempting to read the Left Behind series. Just hearing my fundy relatives gush about it was bad enough.
I've spent many years studying theology of various stripes, and have read hundreds of books on all the different traditions, but I have deliberately avoided religious fiction, as I found most of it to be tripe. The exception, of course, is Robert Heinlein's Stranger in a Strange Land, which was the basis of the other half of the Hubbard bet.
