When you get elected President you become very power hungry and suddenly turn your bias toward government power over transparency even if you've spent your professional life arguing against such a thing, or (2.) When you get elected President you get clued into some VERY nasty stuff that leaves even most liberal-minded with no choice but to support such policies.
