mandrake it is.

Yet another implementation is for a digital print company looking for a 
universal file server so that file can be stored and accessed from mac or 
pc. apparently, it is easier to use linux than worrying about the pc/mac 
network issues ... can't hurt to play a little.

The easiest install would be Mandrake...blew me away how easy it was,
especially since the last time I installed linux it was Slackware and it
took days of reading howto's to get anything done :)
Mandrake does preinstall a network monitor on the desktop by default...
