Absolutely.  No matter where you live, and what disasters may occur,
you need to be prepared.  Food and water for at least three days,
critical documents, medicines you need, a first aid kit, a full tank
of gas in the car, and cash for emergencies.  Also have an emergency
plan in place with your family so you know how to get in touch and
where to meet in the event of a disaster, if possible.  Another item
to remember: if you drink alcohol daily, have a ration for
emergencies.  You don't want to go into alcohol withdrawal in the
middle of a disaster, and the red cross is not gonna hand out tequila
or beer.
