In medieval Europe, everyone, including kids, drank beer because the water supply was so contaminated with sewage, it was undrinkable. The alcohol in beer killed the stuff that made people sick (though I image it literally tasted like shit hehehe).

Love it, you can't plan for everything, but you can take precautions including where you live that raise your chances of surviving natural disasters. I wasn't thinking of the beer supply but now that you bring it up, I'll make a run to the beverage center while others are headed to food stores.
