Some studies have shown that hands-free headsets do not significantly reduce the accident rate. It's the conversation itself that takes enough attention away from the driving to cause the accident. Whether it's adjusting the music, the climate controls, talking to a passenger, whatever - if you don't stay focused on job #1 it's crunch time.
