Probably at least had the charged reduced to some lower degree of 
robbery.  Who knows?  The lady might have given him some of her own 
money and sent him on his way.

Dude.  Go bust a headlight on a cop car or something.  You get a bit of 
time in jail where you get fed and sheltered without the armed robbery 
conviction.

Gawds, quit putting people like this in prison.  If tax dollars are 
going to be used, use them for education.  Make him go to "school". 
Teach him a trade, or better if he is able.  Substance abuse therapy 
might be in order too.  Maybe he could make something of himself.  It's 
better than throwing him away for 15 years where he is still a burden to 
society.

Flip the sentences around.  Heck, a lot of people would probably be 
willing to spend 3 years in posh prison if they could figure out a way 
to grab a few million on the way.
