As I stated, I think that a number of accomplishments during the LBJ
administration have had a lasting positive impact. I named several of
them, obviously pointing out that I think they had a lasting positive
impact.  As for the Civil Rights Act, I agree that it was a
complicated situation and was championed by NE Republicans and opposed
by Southern Democrats. You'll notice that soon after it's passage,
Democrats largely went away in the South and Republicans largely went
away in New England, substantially switching around the political
demographics for a couple generations and, perhaps most germane to
this discussion, enabling Regan and the Southern Strategy that was
used successfully by a number of Republicans since.

As for the rest of your blather, it is just that. I still stand my my
statement that the record of positive accomplishment by LBJ
substantially surpasses that of Regan. Regardless, I did not enter
this discussion to praise LBJ but rather point out that the continuing
hagiography of Regan is sorely misguided and historically laughable.
