Let's not forget the folks down in Waco...those groups come a dime a dozen
in the deep south.

Warren Jeffs is a Mormon, but Tony Alamo isn't. Then there was Berg and The
Family/Children of God. I know they had a good 10 or 20 thousand followers.
I think that Alamo's church was a lot smaller, probably a couple hundred
from what I remember. Alamo is a straight up fire and brimstone dude. Berg
was more on the hippy side of Christianity, no doubt.

As for broader protestant sects, yes, there has been a tradition of church
elders taking young wives. Toddlers? Not that I'm aware of. I'm also not
aware of the fatwa of which you speak, so I don't know it's authenticity or
it's weight. Not all fatwas are equal and many fatwas are counterindicated
by other fatwas from other sources.

As to ignoring scale and scope, that wasn't your question. I answered your
question when you asked for christian ministers, providing you examples. I
strongly suspect that you have a poor grasp of the scale and scope of the
practices you speak of within the Muslim world. But I'm certainly not an
expert on the nuances of Islamic culture and the practice of the law. There
are also certainly large areas that I disagree with, I'm not one to support
Sharia. But I do know enough to know that you are freaking out and letting
ignorance and fear blind you to the diversity of culture and traditions
within Islam.

Cheers,
Judah
