I'm sick. I'm scared. I've had people I love dearly that have been in our embassies in Beirut, in Cairo, in Islamabad recently. And while I never want them to go back into those dangerous places again, I know they will, because they are determined to represent our country, to stand up and show people there that we are good and strong and unafraid, even when we aren't carrying guns. I don't know if I could do their job and I hate it sometimes that they do it, but I know that's their calling, so I just keep on hoping and trust that the tide of civilization will keep rolling, slowly but surely, and the world will get better.
