"Because I have not sworn allegiance to either party, and do not vote simply
based on the D or R next to their name, I actually have to weigh a
candidate's stance against my own ideals. "

Are there no parties beside the Democrats and Republicans on your ballot?

I have stepped off the voting against a candidate platform. For the last
three elections, I voted against Gore, against Kerry, and against Obama. I
will find a candidate that I like or I will write someone's name in.

I will not vote for Willard even though I cannot stand Obama. If I wanted
a progressive in office, I would vote for Obama. Screw Progressive Lite.
 Get the real thing.

I have been told that if Obama wins, it will be my fault because I did not
vote for Willard. I have been told that I am wasting my vote. In my
opinion, a wasted vote is having to choose between two people I do not
support. Also, if Obama does win, it will be the fault of the American
people, not me. I specifically chose someone else.

The two party hegemony will not be altered until people break the either/or
cycle. If you are voting against Romney, the DNC will not know that. They
will take your vote as an endorsement of their policies. An increasing
percentage of votes for third party candidate will show the big two that
their policies are not endorsed by as many people as they would like to
believe.

Thanks to TV and for the convenience of TV, you can only be one of two
kinds of human beings, either a liberal or a conservative. - Kurt Vonnegut

The two real political parties in America are the Winners and the Losers.
The people don't acknowledge this. They claim membership in two imaginary
parties, the Republicans and the Democrats, instead. - Kurt Vonnegut
