There is a difference between 'having a side' and preferring one candidate
over the other.

You and Jerry (and others) think that if Pres. Obama gets re-elected, we
are doomed and the United States as we know it will cease to exist.

Some others on this list think that if Gov. Romeny gets elected, we are
doomed and the United States as we know it will cease to exist.

That is having a side.

While I think Pres. Obama represents my ideals better than Gov. Romey,
regardless of who wins, I do not think we are doomed and that the United
States as we know it will cease to exist.

That is preferring one candidate over the other.

Based on the ballot I cast earlier, I cannot help but wonder how would you
determine what 'side' I am on? I cast votes for democratic and republican
candidates.
