You use it more than you think or it just isn't an issue which is fine but don't just through out random stats. Because I can guarantee you have been in one app, into another from a link or alert and needed or wanted to go back to the other app.
Of you don't use your smart phone that much then I can understand. I personally like being able to see a text or click another alert go to that, respond and back without needing to select anything it's just the back button. I've had 2 iPhones so its not that I don't know how it works, but as a developer I can say its bad user experience that has not been fixed since the first time I brought it up on this list years ago.
