I was "turned out" of the church of my parents - the equivalent to Catholic excommunication - at age 15 for questioning the doctrine of the church as it related to the children of Hindus and Buddhists. The accusation was that I had too much concern for the infidels. They demanded that I go before the congregation and confess to my sins. I refused. They removed me physically from the church building and told me not to return. Best thing that ever happened to me.
