Hmm...i dunno...did you ever doubt that you might find God? If yes, that's probably why you "failed". Any attempt to find God that is tainted with even the least bit of reasonable doubt....can't realistically end in success...since he doesn't exist. By that I mean, the "eureka" moment in which you are supposed to have found God, will always require that you discount the more realistic explanation for your experience. If you've not suspended all disbelief...this can't happen.
