I started to say the same thing and thought it wasn't worth it. I figured the narrow minded would respond with ad hominem attacks so it wasn't worth the time. If I were to make a generalization about science and political parties, I'd say that Republicans are generally not for publicly funded scientific research. As for Democrats, well, I won't say since I don't want to be accused of making broad, sweeping allegations. In general, if either side does fund something, it is not for the general welfare, but for the welfare of their patrons.
