"The people of California voted in both an income and sales tax increase in the
last election. "

They sure did. Though impossible to find out, it would be awesome to find
out the percentage of people who pay income taxes who voted for it versus
the percentage who don't pay income taxes who voted for it.

"Paying for education and other important programs matters more to us than
whining about taxes"

Awesome. They should raise taxes some more to add more programs. Maybe it
will bring back some of those who have left.

On a side not, it also seems labeling genetically modified food wasn't that
big a deal for Californians either.

"Our gas prices are already high. I paid 3.99 a gallon to fill up today.
An additional 42 cents on a tank of gas won't break the bank."

You speaking for yourself or all Californians? I personally think 42 cents
a gallon is a large chunk of money from some person working 28 hours a week
at minimum wage. That's just me though.
