Yes, the ACLU would fall under the modern definition of liberal. Their involvement in this case would fall under the broke clock rule. Where are the other groups? It would seem that if the President is deemed "liberal", then they will give him a pass. The irony is that one day, an opposition party, probably some version of the Republican Party, will win the Presidency and use these new powers. There will be much wailing and gnashing of teeth then.
