I lost my copies of the Histories of Middle Earth, or rather they were
taken. But Tolkien has a stunning vision. Think of all the legends of
Europe, Britain and Scandinavia as imagined by one man. Then he goes beyond
it with all these stories. Then he turns around and does something as
wonderful as The Adventures of Tom Bombadil which really must be spoken
aloud with a 4 or 5 year old listening.
