As this story continues being a topic in the news, I can't see the GOP's
point at all.

http://freakoutnation.com/2013/05/14/full-white-house-benghazi-email-obtained-which-disproves-gop-claims-of-a-cover-up/

The summary: "So, words were twisted in various reports, which resulted in
a display of right wing histrionics. Ironically, the email mentions, “wrong
information getting out into the public” and of coure, the email stating as
such became a distortion, leaked by a dubious source, resulting in
misinformation being seeded onto the masses"

At the end is the link to the CNN story which explains the entire scenario.
