in my opinion, .net is my least favorite dev language. the type of people
that require it, the types of projects that require it, and the language
itself are all "not my kind of people" for the most part.

of course, I do know HOW, because these are dev jobs, and choice is not
always mine to make. but my preference is not .net.

I would also learn a little bit about the jobs and tools that your
coworkers will use. just like db diagrams used to be a necessity;  api
documentation, ui wireframes, and html5 mockups are now part of the project
documentation. you should be familiar with them.

you might also want to look into Ruby. look into git (a version control
app), and read up on test driven development, so you can speak the modern
language.
