true, but you should also look into some frameworks that give your code a little more structure. Stuff like backbone.js, angular.js, or ember.js are good skills to have also.
jQuery alone is commonly looked upon as the beginners gateway to javascript. It's enough to get simple things done, but quickly falls into a spaghetti code when the complexity of your app increases.
