Long story short, nothing about the “pause” changes the basic nature of the
climate problem. We are still on a course for up to 6 degrees Celsius
warming <http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/sci/tech/8364926.stm>, which will lead
to multiple simultaneous humanitarian
disasters<http://natgeotv.com/ca/six_degrees/about>.
Climate scientists, unlike conservative pundits, are still extremely
worried<http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/climate-science-tells-us-the-alarm-bells-are-ringing/2013/06/07/ca81cb84-cef6-11e2-8845-d970ccb04497_story.html>.
Agencies like the International Energy
Agency<http://www.rtcc.org/iea-world-heading-for-3-6c-of-warming/> and
the World
Bank<http://documents.worldbank.org/curated/en/2013/06/17862361/turn-down-heat-climate-extremes-regional-impacts-case-resilience-full-report>
are
panicking, running around waving their arms with their hair on fire. It’s
all as dire as ever.

Lol. Yes, places are still going to be fricking covered by the ocean. The
sea level has already risen, or are the GOP going to argue against that as
well? ;-D
I think the article is spot on regarding the crazies that we see in the
media from the republicans. At least at some level they know that those
positions embarrass the rest of the party.
It would seem, however, that those in charge of the party , if they do not
also share these crazy notions, believe that the "crazy" base outnumbers or
outvotes the moderate Republicans.

I still think that party is responsible for the lack of leadership we see
from the US on climate change
