You can set the cameras to a static local ip. Many routers allow you to assign a MAC address a local ip, like 192.168.x.x Some of these setting are in the advanced version of an interface. I use a buffalo router with the DD-WRT open source Linux interface, which gives me more features than the standard interface. S each of my devices is assigned a local IP...this helps me detect intrusions into my network as well...when a new device pops up...I know I can block it if I is not on the assigned list.

I did get one woman on the third call who was trying to help but she was reading from a script and I am not sur how closely it applied. My main problem right now is that the customer is claiming that he can't ping inside the network, which is bizarre. Does Comcast lock down ping or ping return? Ping does still work in Windows 8, right? I am reasonably certain I got him navigated over the phone to a commanf prompt. On Sep 17, 2013 8:45 AM, "Dana" <[email protected]> wrote: > Thanks everyone.
