There is nothing they can do to defund Obamacare. The funds for it have
already been allocated aka...it's already funded. This is yet another
futile attempt to waste taxpayers money and put the economy at risk by a
bunch of sore losers that can't get past the fact that they lost. 69% of
the country says it is stupid to shut down the government. They are
attaching a rider to the budget bill that has nothing to do with the budget.
They are holding the economy and people's jobs hostage...something that
could have been avoided by just passing a clean budget bill and then dealing
with any other issues that they have later. It's not really 2 sides digging
in, it is the republicans insisting on defunding Obamacare and democrats
insisting on a clean budget bill. As the president said, it is wrong to
hold the country hostage just to rehash what happened in the last election
just because they do like a bill. This is childish and irresponsible...and
I would even say treasonous. This is not helping the country or the people
of the Unites States of America...it is only hurting them so a bunch of sore
losers can play political games.

Where in this article does it say one political party holding US to ransom?
Here is a quote in case you missed this part:

On Capitol Hill there were signs only of the two sides digging into their
respective corners, with the House Republican Conference having what several
sources described as their best conference in months after Speaker John
Boehner's demands to gut Obamacare prompted the budget impasse. And at a
private Democratic lunch in the Senate's ornate Mansfield Room, speaker
after speaker heaped praised on Reid for his no-compromise stand, attendees
said.

Notice the first sentence? Where it says "the two sides digging into their
respective corners."?

What's really going on is that the GOP does not want Obamacare fully funded
right now. They are at the table waiting for the Dems to come and sit down
to compromise. You have a Democratic POTUS who is threatening to veto ANY
bill that does not fully fund Obamacare. You have Dems that are not willing
to compromise. It seems that BOTH sides are holding the US hostage.
