AMD is comparable to Intel :)
Pentium is comparable to Athlon :)

Athlon processors have a higher Instructions Per Cycle (IPC) as P4
processors and therefore they can do more work in one clockcycle. This
offsets the higher clockspeed of P4 processors. For processes where the
datastream is predictable (like streaming media) the P4 is faster, for
processes where it is not the Athlon is faster. Generally, you won't
notice the difference.

Athlon 2200+

Mainly true, except that I wouldn't care about the ATA anymore. But
don't forget that the Tyan Thunder K7(X) board (common name for the
S2466N-4M) is designed for high end workstation / entry level server
applications. So the quality is really top notch. I would consider the
onboard LAN a nice extra.

We actually have 2 Thyan Thunder K7's (S2462UNG), with onboard dual LAN,
VGA and dual channel U 160 SCSI. Really nice boards, they don't require
any additional hardware except for memory, so you can just put them in a
1U rack. The VGA is a bit weak, but we use them as servers anyway.
We bought the second one for use with OpenBSD, even though OpenBSD is
unable to make use of the second CPU. But the boards are just good :)

There really is no equivalent Intel based board for this. Performance is
on par with a dual Xeon board, but that will set you back about the
double amount of money for the board, and triple for the RAM and
processors. Just be carefull with the size (it's big) and the power supply.
