Ok, so include all shooting or at least all criminal shootings.

That's the point, mother Jones has an obvious slant to the point it's
trying to make.

Much in the same way the 74 number in the other article is supposed to make
the problem look worse than it is so that the scared parents will allow the
federal government to write illegal and unconstitutional law.

If anything new legislation that actually removes guns from the streets
will cause more violence, not less.

This isn't a threat or anything of the sort. I'm not even allowed to own
guns anymore, and I don't.

But if nothing else, Bundy, the couple in Vegas, the rise of the oath
keepers and the three percenters, at the same time as the increasing
militarization of the police, this is a recipe for disaster.

People are getting sick and tired of government in every aspect of their
lives.

There is still a huge population in this country of people that I think are
far outside the experiences of many members of this list.

The middle class is being destroyed in most of America. Most of the people
in this list have decent careers and incomes. That is not honestly the norm
anymore.

The little towns out here in the rust belt are being ignored, the inner
cities are too.

All you have to do is look at Connecticut. Hundreds of thousands of people
refused to register their arms, and police unions have refused to go get
them, why do you think that is?

Are you going to pick up a gun to lower gun violence Scott? Are you going
to stack on that door?

That's what this boils down to. I don't want to see America become a
failed nation state, but if there is real, increased gun control without a
constitutional amendment, and a huge shift in American culture to even make
that conceivable; without that there will be violence.

Rich, secure, stable suburban people shouldn't get to dictate to the rest
of us how to live.

This is a major philosophical and ideological schism I'm seeing in America
today. Collectivists vs individualists. It's not just guns, is everything.

There was a point at which you could buy your land, live how you want, and
never be bothered. Utopian experiments, religious communities, all
different kinds of people were allowed to flourish.

Now it's as though we've homogenized humanity, conform or die.

It's sickening.
