"Punks" firing 500+ rockets at the civilian population of a neighboring country isnt "hijinks". It is war.
Clearly. The fact that the people firing the rockets are PART OF THE SAME PARTY as their government puts the responsibility to stop them, short of war, on that government (Hamas). If Ukraine fired 500 rockets into Russia, then yes, we would expect Russia to react. And probably invade Ukraine, with the understanding of the world. Is it tragic for those killed, yes. Is it preventable? Yes. But I see the onus on Hamas to stop the rockets, which will stop the retaliation, at least as part of the current "tit for tat".
