I know that was true of the kids who were raised in the 80s and 90s,
but most of the parents I know who are raising kids today are very
aware of the danger of too much media - television internet, etc. My
grandson, nieces and nephews have iPads but they mostly use them for
learning or games,. None of them watch more than a few hours a week
of television, and even then they watch children's programs like Dora
the Explorer or Legos.

Do you see a lot of kids these days who watch excessive television? I
would bet money that yours do not.
