And this may sound a bit cold (or crazy), but got new bird already. Couldn't function with empty cage and quiet house. So Phil and I went to Surrey Street pet store, found a pied 3-month old cockatiel. Is now in newly scrubbed cage, eyeing me warily. Looks eerily like Bird. It's name is Weebl. (http://www.weebl.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/b3ta/pie.html) Supposedly, this young, you can teach them to talk. Maybe I'll teach it to say, "Want pie!" Still hope Bird comes back. Now she'll have a friend.
