Steph, Did you check your registry and ensure all the crap left over after uninstalling Studio is gone?
I would uninstall DWMX, clean out your registry. Then run a registry cleaning utility, because it's good for you. Then defrag, just because it's good for you, whether you need it or not. ;) Double check Add/Remove programs for any listing of Studio in there, just in case. Then try installing Studio again. Contact me off-list if that doesn't work. I know it's a pain, but you'll only tear your hair out and your kids will come home one day and find you bald because you are trying to use DWMX for all your development. I know.
