Sorry .. couldn't get a decent picture. I've read that if the spider is
very hungry, or it's just in a bad mood, it may rush you if you touch the
net. So, I was forced to keep the camera about 2 feet away. At this range,
it was dark enough that the flash would go off when I took a picture. This
left a picture of a completely white background with a black blob in the
middle of it. Whenever I would shine a bright light directly on it, the
spider would turn and look at me for a few seconds and then start to retreat
back to its hiding place. It's very weird being stared at by one of those
things. Finaly the batteries in the digital cam crapped out and I didn't
have any spares. It's a shame too .. it was a very pretty, shiney black
with 2 bright red dots on the back of its abdomen and a barely seperated
"hourgalss" on it's underside. The heck with technology .. I was wishing I
had a good 35mm at that point. :)

We are experiencing drought conditions here in SC and Widows do sometimes
come indoors if they can't find water. After reading what a bite from one
of these things will do to you, I just couldn't take that chance. As much
as I hated to do it, I had no choice by to spray it. Maybe if it dies out
in the open, I will be able to get a better pic.

Knowing my luck, the spray won't kill it, though and it will sneak in
durring the night and have its revenge. =-/ I'm more worried about my
roomate than I am me. If it bites me, at least I have a chance of feeling
it and be able to get to the doc in a hurry. If it bites her in the wrong
place, she won't even know anything is up until the symtoms start to kick
in, which would mean she would have a rougher road to recovery .. yikes.

I still want a Tarantula though :( But my roomie said if I got one, she
would spray both of us. hehe

P.T.

Tarantulas for everyone, for a better tomorrow.
