Its rather funny how large animals can be intimidated by smaller ones. Case in point. Case in point, as you know, I've been brining in tow of my ferrets to work with me. A coworker does the same with a couple of her dogs, one of them is an older puppy (not quite an adult yet). Three weeks ago Ryoga (one of the ferrets) was out wandering around the office, and discovered one of the dog's toys. He decided that it just had to be in this other spot, so he promptly moved it there. A minute or so later the puppy comes by and finds it. So the dog moves it back to where is was before. Ryoga finds it and moves it to where he wants it.
This goes on 3 or four times. Ryoga then short circuits the process and discovers the dog moving the toy back. As soon as the dog puts the toy back, this old, fat ferret who normally couldn't move very fast to save its life, suddenly moves like greased lightening, jumps the 3 or four feet separating the two animals and gooses the puppy with his cold wet. The puppy gives a high pitched yelp and runs and hides behind her owner. Ryoga is pure bottle brush. When ferrets get excited, frightened, upset or angry their tails looks very much like a bottle brush. He wants another piece of that dog. Anyhow ever since then whenever Ryoga is out of his cage and the puppy notices she hides behind her owner. Yesterday for instance Ryoga is out and rounds the corner from my cubicle. He comes nose to nose with the puppy. The puppy yelps and runs away to Leah's cube. Ryoga sprints after. Fortunately I'm able to catch him before disaster happens. This dog is at least 5 or 6 times Ryoga's size. He has that dog completely terrorized. The company's owner has two huskies, who are also scared of this little ferret. Its all attitude on Ryoga's part. If he was human, I could see him walking into a Hells Angels convention and yell "Harleys suck". And get away with it. larry -- Larry C.
