Yeah, I know I said I wanted the LOTR/FOTR DVD just the way it was in the theater.
So I ordered the "theatrical" LOTR/FOTR DVD. Love it. But I just _had_ to watch the preview on the disk of the "Platinum Extended Edition" with the half hour of additional footage. In the preview, the director Peter Jackson says he's not a fan of "Director's Cut" DVDs as if the theatrical version wasn't "good enough". But he did say they simply couldn't include that much additonal footage in theaters which should have been in the story. Looking at the snippets of scenes in the "extended" material, I realize some of it is *important stuff*, like when Galadriel presents parting gifts to the members of the Fellowship which will be so vital in The Two Towers. Soooo, I just pre-ordered the "Platinum" version.
