I think the producer/director/whoever has different concerns depending on
the outlet.

  I would think that most people don't want to commit into a theatre for
2.5+ hours.  I often suffer through either a painful bladder or a cottony
mouth for the last hour at a theatre.  EVERYONE looks at you when you get up
during the flick, lol, I can FEEL their eyes.  I SO hate it.  And the cokes
just get bigger and bigger, and now they have free refills, the bastards are
just taunting me now. Heh.

At home, I can watch a bit at a time, pause when I want, etc.  I'd be much
more willing to sit through a longer story.

I wonder if the theaters have a "preferred" or forced limit on length for
profit margins/crowd turnover?
