While I despise the RIAA as much as anyone else - what exactly is wrong with this? In theory, it only hurts people who are downloading music. People who own the CDs can make their own MP3 copies - so - it really does only hurt people who want the music w/o paying for it. It's not like the effort to make uncopyable CDs. No one has the right to download the latest track from Moby without paying for it. As it stands - the user quoted in the article got what he wanted - a sample - in this case only 20 seconds - but no one says the record companies _must_ provide a full copy of the song as a 'sample.'
