Jon,

Been there and done that!! One of the biggest factors in burn-out is simply
repetition, the more times you do something, the more you get tired of doing
it. There is several different ways of combating burn-out, but you have to be
diligent in your efforts. Here is a list of things that I have done to combat
my burn-out, and they work well, as long as you stick to your guns.

1. Take time for you!! This one of the most important things you can do, most
people are so worried about how everyone else feels that they ignore
themselves and get stuck in a rut. If you like sports, go see some sporting
events. If you like the outdoors, then go camping. You may even consider
combining the two (work and play) when you feel you cannot get away. Get a
laptop if you do not already have one, and go camping and take your laptop
with you. You can get the work done that you need and then you can kick back
and just relax under the stars afterwards. Work does not always have to be a
"Job" it can be fun if you let it be.

2. Learn something new. Take the time to learn something that you would not
normally do, such as rock climbing or archeology or diving etc..etc...You can
then combine that with the items in #1

3. Not sure if you are religious or not, but many find religious retreats to
be very uplifting and helpful when dealing with the grind of everyday life.

Well that is all I can think of off the top of my head, but the main thing is
to get your head away from the monitor and not dealing with people that
cannot be pleased no matter what you do or say.

Best of luck

Douglas Brown
