I completely and total sympathize with you about time constraints and
everyone wanting everything yesterday ... But I will tell you something
.. One area where you REALLY should not be lazy, no matter how fast
something is needed ... Is the commenting.

<cfsoapbox>
If you are as swamped as you say, under a zillion requests, tasks and
projects, what is the hope of you rembering what you did in template A ,
6 months from now when a bug is discovered and you have to fix it, or an
upgrade is requested and you have a seriously complicated looping update
page that is connected to 6 different databases and updates information
in each one based upon certain conditions? Are you going to remember
every single bit of logic you used at that point in time?

If you can, you are my absolute hero, and I will worship the ground you
stand on forever, and can I have a piece of you photographic memory
brain, .... Because I can't. And if I didn't at least comment
skeleton-ly, I would be in such deep doo-doo with my apps.

It can save you so much time down the road when you have to look at
things.

Too many people think, oh, I'll create Job Security and make it so my
code is unreadable and not comment anything ... And it's just not true.
That's not going to save your job. And don't think the person coming in
after you even cares. They may be so brilliant and fast, they'll just
rewrite your pages....and say who cares? The previous guy/gal was a
slob. Good thing you sacked them.

So basically, if you're going to skip corners to save time, don't let
commenting your code be the thing you don't do, cause it take a few
seconds extra while you are writing the code to sat "This does that" and
"that does this if this true." You are only hurting yourself down the
road.
</cfsoapbox>

Sorry for the rant. It's one of the harsh lessons I had to learn...and
I'm always trying to save the population from a horrible mistake.

And commented code, no matter what.
