This works for me about 90 % of the time: Uninstall all drivers for hardware such as NICs, sound cards, video cards, modems. Should remove all devices expect for video card and hard drive controller, if necessary. Start up to make sure it boots.
Replace motherboard. Add video card and hard drive controller only. See if it boots. If it does, your in. If not, sorry. If it works, add all the devices again. When all devices back in machine, reinstall service pack. Also, do not forget the Jack Daniels and Prozac...
