Well, when I said computers are exempt I was making a generalization. They
are not ways of writing as defined by tradition and as such do not fall
under laws dealing with the physical act of writing. On the other hand, they
are means of moving information and fall under those forms of laws. Laws
such as proper speech and the like.
The way laws apply to electronic devices in Judaism can (and do) take up
books. Of course, I'm speaking from the position of orthodox Judaism and
other denominations may hold differently.
